I think google translate is great though it can give you two different words for the same english word if you try the english word twice. Still i used it to communicate with my boyfriend when we first met and i learned a lot of obscure words i wouldn't find in my chinese manual
No matter what translator you use you're still going to have to fix the grammar and sentence structures yourself!

This is the best. Uses a modified version of Google translate and gives pinyin, characters and audio so you can hear it pronounced.
Of course, it's not 100% perfect, but it's the best I've seen so far.
