Q: What are some Chinese things that the west copies?

Has China made any contribution to the IP theft industry, apart from being the copier? What are some things that China has produced that the west have illegally copied?

Spring Rolls.

Scandinavian:

the only place in China I have had a spring roll was in a Vietnamese restaurant. I am aware it is more a northern food so I should not run into them that often here in the south. For 2½ years, so far the spring roll count for me in China is 1. I have had some awesome spring rolls in Kuala Lumpur in a Japanese restaurant, sadly (for me who is a spring roll enthusiast) the tempura outshone the rolls.

All of IP belongs to China. China was the rightful owner of IP since 1524, as shown by this map, drawn by my assistant 30 minutes ago. Return all of IP to China, the rightful owner.

Traveler:

It is interesting that the western author that "revealed" Zheng He's "map of the world" also had miraculous documents which "proved" that Leonardo Da Vinci copied all his drawings from a Chinese ambassador, and that another Chinese ambassador inspired the Renaissance.

Unfortunately, the author unwittingly discredited himself by claiming that the map was drawn several years before Zheng He supposedly made his extended voyage, and the voyage was only to the East coast of Africa. This illustrates the necessity of research when making "world shattering" claims.

Yes of course it only stands to reason that the Chinese made possible the Renaissance. What color is the sky in China? Ask Beijing.

I can't get visas for Chinese women so I'm having them cloned. It works out to be cheaper and they can be altered to fit my needs, bigger kasbas etc and they can be programmed never to speak. But I think all this is illegal, does this count?

Scandinavian:

can you not get them fake visas?

Incredible though it may seem, it is actually easier to clone Chinese girls than to be able to get them fake visas....

Don't give them any ideas they'll go to great lengths to find something. Even if they set it all up.

Can only think of the 4 great inventions. Compass, Gunpowder, Papermaking and Printing.... and seriously, a bowl of water with a needle in it just doesn't float my boat as well as non-water-based compasses

For the life of me, I really want to think of something!   Unfortunately, the rest of the world has left China so far behind, they have nothing to offer that hasn't been done already elsewhere.  Even the 4 great inventions have been improved upon and modernized by others, not merely copied.

xinyuren:

I stand corrected!  Chinese people are really good at making rice!

Maybe some Westerners will copy this.

chopsticks ?  Chinese take-out ?  Fortune cookies ?   dunno actually...  but I have this strange impression that the copying actually goes the other way- that is China copies Western things.

Scandinavian:

Chopstiks - a novelty when eating food originating from Asian countries, they are likely from China, but actual origins are not known

Take out food - don't know the origins of food delivery, but surely not a Nobel prize winner

Fortune cookies - an American invention

There is only one thing that I would like my country to copy from China. That is the digital countdown thing attached to traffic lights. I actually think that is a good idea and would reduce frustration or road rage when the lights are stuck on red for minutes on end.

Scandinavian:

wanna bet this is not a Chinese invention, also, the effect is has in China is making people speed up.

Kaiwen:

I have no idea where the original idea came from - only that such things don't exist in my country. As for making Chinese speed. The only thing that makes Chinese speed up is their own Chinese characteristics. I am sure that the majority of drivers in my country would decelerate if they saw that the time was insufficient for passing safely.

Canada has these.  The first time I saw them was there and I thought the same thing:  So cool.  Now more American cities have them too.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
