Q: What are some of the stranger things you've seen in Chinese airports?
Or maybe by 'stranger' I mean 'typically Chinese'
The amount of VIP rooms.
China Mobile VIP Room, China Unicom VIP Room, Ctrip VIP Room, along with the airline lounges.
Walking through Beijing airport for the first time, saw my first Chinese toddler in 'crotchless' trousers, (without a nappy either) that was a shock, but nothing to the next second when the toddlers mother picked him up by the knees and allowed him to urinate right there in the middle of the airport concourse, my neck almost did a full 360!
Talk about welcome to China!

and you will also see them sitting on the concrete sidewalk, on their half bared butt with penis almost touching the ground. I understand the convenient part, but that doesn't look sanitize to me.

In the Shanghai airport, there are no vending machines, at least at the international departure area. I was looking for a bottle of water and they didn't have any. The only drink available that wasn't at a restaurant was warm water in a paper cone.
In local flight (within China) despite the general safety rules (no liquids, no sharp objects etc.) Chinese citizens go aboard with tea jars (containing a large amount of liquid, and made of glass, that after breaking could produce quite nice knife) 
I've seen it few times, specially in Guangdong, Guangdong to Zhejiang flights.

lol! you really got me laughing. Its so true! those giant jug carried by all but least expected are nice looking men.
A woman allowing her toddler to take a piss at the exit point of the motorized walkway. People (including me) had to leap over the puddle. When I called after the woman and pointed at her childs puddle, she just shrugged and went on her way.

heard from a friend that the cutest toddler ever took a dump in his (open) bag before he knew what was going on. it did cause a lot of entertainment and laughter, although the friend was a little weed off.
It's not something that I saw per se, but something that I recently read about. A young Chinese man had just got back from studying in Japan. He met his mum at the Shanghai Int'l Airport. He proceeded to stab her nine times! :( Absolutely horrible! :( And, NOT ONE Chinese citizen stopped to help that woman!!!!! :( Only a foreign man did so.
some ariports are smaller than a bus station.... eg: Shanhaiguan Airport..
What I find strange is how polite the security personnel is to me in China, and how utterly rude they are in New York.
For me, the strange thing is seeing a massive amount of people lined up at check-in 3 hours before departure (the earliest you can check-in in China). Usually what I see in the US is a massive amount of people trying to get checked in less than 30 minutes before departure because they lollygagged getting to the airport.
Forgot the lighters. Carrying lighters is a big no no here. Even when they do not have gas in them
