Q: What are some things that are GOOD in China?
we seem to focus on the negative things in China,well what about the good things?
where I go to buy my milk the people are always very nice.
The man that drops off our water is very nice to my boy.
I like going to Dongmen in Shenzhen they have very big Dvd shop there so many good dvds.
The woman at the shop I go to where I buy my coffee in the morning always comes out and watches my boy and talks to him while Im in the shop.
The other day the police officer turned on the siren on his police bike for my boy.
at the zoo last Sunday I got treated just like a normal person,I was just a dad out with his family just like everyone else,no one was pointing fingers or anything like that,smiles all around it was a nice feeling.
if I think of any more I will let you know.
I have one really good Chinese friend,we talk about shit and we would be friends if we met in New Zealand.
Some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, and cheap means to get there. I just came back from filming a secret waterfall in Guiyang with spectacular views. On the way home, I stopped at Zhangjiajie, a tourist trap, for sure, but also home to one of the most jaw-dropping karst ranges on Earth. Traveling in China is cheap and full of adventure. It is probably the only reason I'm still here.

Zhangliaje is awesome. Imagine being there all alone without the 100000 other tourists !
Cheap living (at least still in some places).
Very easy to use public transport.
Those that are friendly tend to be very friendly - The other day a bird shat on my arm. A policeman saw, initially he laughed a lot but then he did offer me tissues and water out of his bottle to rinse my arm with.
Close proximity to awesome places - Japan, Korea, Thailand and many more all just on the doorstep.
It's improving - Not necessarily the government, but the people and their behavior is definitely improving. It's slow, but to expect anything else would be unrealistic.

Nice to see for a change. Sure, there are plenty of things that irritate us, but at home not everything is always wonderful either.

Travelling is much more adventurous, because you never know if the hotel will actually be able to take you.
Cheap food. Of course, it is probably contaminated with pesticides/canrcinogens, but at least it's cheap.
Very helpful people. I was in a serious bike accident last year, and several people made sure to stop and document it with videos and pictures. No one actually helped/checked to see if I was ok/called an ambulance, but hey, they took pictures.
i'd say good metro systems...the amount i've saved over a few years not owning a car is going to buy me an exotic car when I move home next year.
Pretty good food. I'm not crazy about Chinese food enough to eat it every day but theres plenty of good places.
Not crazy expensive dates, even dating european girls there are plenty of good places like element you can have a nice dinner for two and spend less than $100 even with dinner, drinks and desert.

Street BBQ n beers. Hotpot. A lot of the people if you give them the chance. The public transport. Cheap living. Always seeing weird, strange or quirky things. People watching. Small family run restaurants. Meeting people I would probably never mix with back home because we're really different and becoming great friends. Walking down a street you've been in before and finding a cool new restaurant. Exploring the city on a mountain bike.
I'll second the street bbq,,,, some nice rat up in Zhejiang. 
and I especially like the impromptu Farmer's Markets within walking distance of my apartment. Really good, fresh vegetables. cheap and a pretty impressive selection too.

I love my students here. Students in the states are awful. I like that I have the freedom to teach my way which is very effective.
Because everyone is so incompetent I'm automatically great. I'm a man of average intelligence but I'm a genius here

I love the fact that I don't have to worry about my kids being hurt or shot in Shenzhen while their at school. For all the problems we complain about here in China I gotta say I feel like I'm in the safest country in the world. I really feel that. I guess we got to be honest the sith lord or the dark side would never be able to turn people here, because they wouldn't understand it. We're lucky for that.

There are very good things about China... I would say they are...
- crazy, quirky random events
- Hot Pot (I love it, nice interactive dinner event)
- Street BBQ
- Visiting many amazing landscapes and wonders (just as long as they aren't too many tourists)
- the energy of the people
- cheap food, hotels, travel expenses etc.
Decent salaries, and a wide variety of veggies and mushrooms at the markets. Honesty though, if the salaries werent decent...I wouldnt waste my time living and working in Chinap period.
