Currently, I have been looking at jobs for teaching, off of this website and have received several offers from schools. I am wondering what are some of the benefits and quality of work that you search for, when finding a job here?

The difference between working hours and teaching hours and watch out for office hours.
Traveler:
If the contract says 20 teaching hours, they will verbally tell you that is 20 classes. However, if each class is only 40 minutes, then you could end up being expected to teach 30 classes.
Make sure they can provide the legal Z working visa, accept nothing else.
What little extras (marking, marketing, attending banquets, English corners, 'demo' classes) they will expect you to make yourself available for.
Also, I wrote up a whole epic checklist just last week (most ably added to be regulars who really know their shit), and these questions come up pretty often. Look back through this website and you'll find loads of advice.
In addition to what has been said above, ask and get in writ ting the living conditions expected of you. Will you have an apartment with Western goodies (i.e. Automatic washing machine, bathroom) or will you be assigned to a dorm like housing.
Will you have a curfew, will you be allowed to bring a date or even just friends to your home or not (and can they stay with you or not).
Also, be careful of the phrase "foreign teacher will be required to follow all rules and regulations of the university." I bring this up, because while is sounds fair and innocuous, it was used in my school to prevent one of the teachers from living off campus. Though the h ousing provided us was not bad, she had a nice retirement package from the West which really went a long way here in China, so she rented an apartment off campus which was REALLY nice. Paid in rent more than 1,000 RMB more than my salary ( she did not really need the job, she just wanted a couple of years of "adventure" now that she was retired) and the school gave her a hard time with this. So, if you see this clause in y our contract, ask the school what it entails, specifically.
My colleague is now teaching in Malaysia, and she has no complaints at all.
