Q: What are the speed limits on the roads or highways here?

I really never could spot a speed limit sign anywhere. So that takes me to my question is there a limit to how fast one can drive in China without being penalized?

HighWays, The lowest speed 120KM / Hour, 

 

Country Road : 80-120Km/ Hour, usually begin the NO, "G", such As G4 means State Road 4 line.

 

Provincial Rd: 60-120KM /hour,  

 

From January 1, 2012 onwards, the implementation of the new traffic law, overspeed one times, will be fined 200 yuan, driving license 2 points deduction, speed two, revoke the driving license, in jail for 6 months

I see them but they are written in English numbers. Maybe that is why you do not see them.

at least that is what is written on the motorway sign from Harbin to Mudanjaing

Chinese - 80kph

Chinese with Guanxi - 90kph +5kph per 100RMB

'O' plates - 200kph

Military plates - Unlimited no-ones gonna stop you anyway
