1) pay more attention to the important people in my life - it is easy to forget to keep in regular contact, especially those at a distance

2) more exercise - irregular class times, especially those in the evening, have made me lazy

3) work smarter

Happy New Year all wink

same here for number 2... my class schedule at the university has made me extremely lazy... or maybe it's just china...

1) Lay more pipe than in yesteryear. In the Land of Wifedor where the Hulkster lies.

2) Help the Dark Lord, on her Dark Throne, conceive more children. In the Land of Wifedor where the shadows lie.

Excellent word/term/phrase. Sure hope it does not fall out of use. I read a book entitled Shanghaied about a teenage boy who got shanghaied in Africa, it was supposed to basically be a true story...

shang·hai

 transitive verb \ˈshaŋ-ˌhī, shaŋ-ˈhī\

: to bring (someone) onto a ship by force

: to make (someone) do something by using force or tricks

shang·haiedshang·hai·ing

Full Definition of SHANGHAI

1
a :  to put aboard a ship by force often with the help of liquor or a drug

b :  to put by force or threat of force into or as if into a place of detention
2
:  to put by trickery into an undesirable position
— shang·hai·er  noun

Origin of SHANGHAI

Shanghai, China; from the former use of this method to secure sailors for voyages to eastern Asia
First Known Use: 1871

1. Buy three-or-four Chanel suits, one for each season (I know the best knock-off Chanel seamstress in the world in BJ);

2.  Buy one pair of real Ferragamo or Louis Jourdain shoes for each of the new Chanel suits;

3.  Buy one each of the entire line of Chanel No. 5 perfume -- the perfume itself, the eau de parfum, the eau de cologne, the eau de toilette, the bath oil, the hand cream and the like;

4.  Spend one day every three-or-four months, on the weekends, when I am free, at the new Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa Centre in Beijing;

5.  Try to improve my mastery of chopsticks;

6.  Learn at least 500 new Chinese radicals.

Check triglyceride (TG) in blood mate. If you really want to quit or reduce the alcohol intake TG is best shot. alcohol has significant and direct effect in TG and if it is higher than 2 mmol/L it is the sigh that we must do something to reduce the effect of diabetes, heart stroke etc. In six months my TG increased to 2.1 and I am damn scared though the acceptable margin is till 2.5. Fried/greasy pork meat and beers are out of the equation for me until i don't lower TG below 2. Good luck.

No NY resolutions, ever.  But.....I'm really looking forward to a happy 2014 with my new wife and step-daughter.  Perhaps I should drink less beer.  Someone mentioned online study....hmmm.  Yes, I could do that but laziness is my nemesis.

My New Years resolutionskiss.

1) Find another job. This one I am working at leaves me with no money in my pocket and I cannot afford an apartment (staying with friends). Next month it should get a little bit better, but I will still have the same problems.

2) Exercise more.

3) Try to teach myself Chinese.

4) Make a compromise with my friend, Loneliness

Whats a resolution??? Hahaha I sound chinese. I mean, is it a plan for the new year? Is it goal to change something negative? Is it to work for a goal that is more unrealistic?  I never know how to answer this question because when i make any plan i really try to do it, so all goals are plans.......

Ok, I will sell my car, and use the money and the savings for an upgrade.  2014 VW Golf GTI MK7 ( if i cant import a truck)

Oh this is a real resolution. I will have an MMA fight this year.  I just found a professional gym, i will spend the money , and get healthier, and learn how to get punched in the face, and get in the cage and punch someone at least once before I tap out.

If these 2 things happen it will be a great year!

tsonj:

I guess I don't have to answer your questions since you already did.

Those are good goals...except the ones where you punch and tap. Good luck!

Not to be afraid next year. Started recording my run since Nov. 21st and completed 249 km so far (180 km in December including 2 half marathon). One was this morning. I used to run before but it became irregular after few months in China and was worried that I might have lost my strength with each and everyday passing in China. Happy that I am 100% solid and nothing to complain about China now. Run-work-run-work-party with colleagues. Now my aim is to run at least 100 km every month and in total 1500- 2000 km by the end of 2014.

Paulberger:

i wish i had the motivation to get out and run.  it's way too cold here now though.  it the summer i ride my bike.  you ever run out in the country side and see some interesting things?

I wish I was you, matey.  Actually, I was you.  Ran between 10 - 30 k six mornings a week for about 20 years.  Now got a job to walk to the little shop to get more beer.  Some days are hopping only days.  An ignored minor foot fracture during my running years has developed into degenerative arthritis with constant inflammation, pain and swelling.

Message to you, running man;  don't ignore injuries!

Hakupatasa:

Thanks for your encouragement. I will surely keep it up. No I haven’t run out in the country side in China. I will try in spring/summer.

I have had few injuries in the past. Major one was bike accident and I was directly hit on my knee by a van. It wasn’t that big but the impact was directly on my right knee. Doctors said everything was fine. But after that I could not run more than 40 mins. Crossing 40 min, I could get pain anytime. So I kept pushing slowly and slow. Finally, it seems that my body has accepted it and I am able to run more. Before, I could run more than an hour and as I didn’t have anything to measure the distance I used to set the limit with time like for an hour or two etc. Then I had swollen shin muscles and healed. Anyway, taking your message, “don’t ignore injuries,” I am going back home in two weeks for spring festival and I have planned to do thorough medical checkup.

Nevertheless, we should not find excuses from doing any physical activities suitable for our body condition. If we don't love ourselves then others won't love us or as I say: If I don't love me, then no one will love me or I have no rights to love anyone, i.e. I have to motivate myself to do anything. indecision

Happy New Year and Cheers.
