1) Liang pi

2) Rou jia mo

3) Noodles in porridge called "zhen zi mian" or something like that. I ate that in Xi'an, but I still haven't found the name, and I'm not going to contact my ex just to find it.

4)Jian bing (more of a snack than a dish, but still)

5) Jiao zi - the boiled ones, not the steamed ones

bonus: Some good ol' chuan'er with a beer in summer. That's how I spent a lot of my summer nights since I was 17.

goubaorou (sweet and sour pork)

xiao mai ( Inner Mongolia's take on jiaozi)

meng nian (big plate of fried noodles, meat, and veggies)

my favorite chuan'er:

yang rou chuan'er (lamb on a stick)

ji xin (chicken hearts on a stick)

andyinshenyang:

That's pretty much my list too!

I'd swap the meng nian for gan guo tu dou pian though and I'd also add liu rou duan because I'm fat and can't count!

Chicken hearts are incredible. I've been eating them for over a year now when we go out. Has anyone tried silk worms on a stick? Not so bad, but i never have them sober.

1. Yu Xiang Qie Zi Fan (鱼香茄子饭) - eggplant in a fishy sauce; sounds terrible, tastes great!

2. Dan Chao He Fen (蛋炒河粉) - a personal favourite to the staple of egg fried whatever.

3. Chang Fen (肠粉) / Bao Zai Fan 煲仔饭 - Guangdong dish of rolled up noodle sheets with any ingredients shoved in, shrimp goes down a treat - the first being larger strips and the latter smaller... served with soy sauce Smile

4. Zheng Jiao +  Peanut Sauce  (蒸饺+花生酱)  - 3.5RMB - 8 mini bad boy steamed dumplings with a minimal amount of peanut sauce to accompany.

5. Shao Kao 烧烤 (BBQ) - pick and choose whatever you want followed by some MSG paprika cancer fusion they slap on. Yum.

Not what I'll usually eat, but definitely my break to the home cooking/canteen routine!
