It really depends on your level of experience, qualifications and the type of industry you want to work in. I guess your location also plays a role. I think on the whole, 10,000 RMB is a nice round figure to aim for if you're just starting off. Of course, if you've previously enjoyed excecutive/managerial level jobs at home with many years of experience or are an expert in a certain field (like engineer or architect for example) you should be aiming much higher (30-50,000 RMB/month). But again, it's a very general question so it really depends on various factors...

Teaching: Average salary for teachers in Yunnan Province is about 3,000 RMB per month.. Inner Mongolia is about 8,000 Per Month. Sichuan is about 5,000 Per month.. This is only the average though.. some schools pay really well, and others, well, just don't. It depends on where you live, the cost of living in that area, and the availability of Foreign teachers.

That being said, I work mostly in the entertainment industry (Films/Music/etc) so I make a bit more than those salaries... I have made anywhere from 700RMB-2000RMB for singing 2 songs at an event... like 6 minutes work!

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
