Q: What Is Best TEFL Teachers Pay In Beijing - 25,000 monthly?
I have a friend teaching for the Photon Truck & Bus company in Champing and they pay him 25,000 a month and a shared apartment to teach M-F 6 hours a day. Is this average or near the top of the pay scale? I am new to corporate teaching and he will be moving back to the States and is trying to talk me into taking over the balance of his contract (9 months left). His dad died and he inherited a bunch of money. He told me his pay is better than most because nobody likes to go all the way to Champing and that is why they gave him a room in an apartment belonging to one of the company managers. Needless to say he won't be teaching any longer. Anyway, can I do better than this or take the job? I have a BA in English Literature.
I'm sure the school won't pay near that amount because you are new. They might say that over the phone. But don't expect it. Send my condolences to his dad.
Also, is that nett per month? Or is it an average, including bonuses, before tax, the cost of the apartment, costs for flight reimbursement, etc etc? And, of course, what's the quality of the apartment?
For a BA only, yes, it's pretty good money if the above doesn't apply (so it's the amount after tax).
Holders of Master's degrees can get higher in international co-op programs. I've heard that PhD holders at some of those can earn up to 40K... but those jobs are super-rare! But, others can be 30K or so (lots of competition). Otherwise, 25K is pretty good.
Wall Street pays well IF you are qualified. Corporate trainers get $350 an hour there.
