As soon as somebody writes the name of good VNP on the Board, it will be soon deleted by authorities ... speaking by LT experience on the Board.

Stiggs:

People always say that but I've seen lots of VPN questions over the years where people named the one I was using, along with the other popular ones and as far as I know they're all still working ok.

It does piss people off though but it's like when your girlfriend farts in the car, it's obvious it's there but you both look straight ahead at the road and try to pretend it doesn't exist even though it very obviously does.

As soon as I discovered Opera browser with free Vnp included, I report it here. A month later, Opera wouldn't work anymore with Vpn on.

I am guessing, some are easier to block than others. Questions posted here are often purposely asked for making clear something that isn't ...

This Board and the whole website are open to collect an info on laowai in China.

You might think, that isn't so, but that certainly is the possibility. Read more on Chinese control of their web ...

It might just be coincidence, some issue with compatibility or something. I doubt the powers that be don't know they exist.

Like I say, there are a few that have been used for years with no problems and everytime this question pops up online they get named.

@ Icnif, I'm not able to comment on your post for some reason...

Yeah, who knows. I doubt that the Chinese internet people rely on English teachers talking on forums for their information about what's happening in the online security world though and like I said, the big few have been around for years despite being recommended every time this question comes up. I've read that without access to the WWW Chinese researchers, business people etc would have a very hard time doing their thing so the VPNs that probably aren't easily available to the average Zhou are quietly allowed to operate.

You said were using a free service, I think you got what you paid for.

I don't usually notice the AOTD, I think I had one a couple of weeks ago. And I had an AOTD that was there for well over a year, it must have a good one.

Yer 10-months AOD was on for so long 'cause they were looking for the big Admin, i.e. nobody was at the helm to change it ... surprise

You can load a bunch of vpn selections from torrent sites, I find about 6 that worked fine free when I was there, but I never named them for obvious reasons.

icnif77:

You see ... we, LT posters speak the same language.

I read about it here first time around 2010 and warning was repeated many times after that. I guess, posters were writing out of experience.

With Vnp not working there are two main things involved. Either, block was posted or yer Internet connection is lousy. Mine (Internet connection) was always included in rent/apartment, so it wasn't the best-est one.

As soon as I was in HK on hotel's wi-fi everything was cool&dandy.

I've never had my own Vnp while in China, but experience with Opera confirmed what posters here were saying.

... and @Stiggs ... "Chino cops don't care what foreign posters in China are saying .." ... maybe they don't now when we're only four of us posting , but the site was much busier in pre-Cofid days.

Now, the new big Admin is cleaning-up all Chino negative posts since a month ago. I got message at deletes " ... this post might be acceptable outside of China, but here ... is no-no-no-no ..".

I posted yesterday Zero's report about new Cofid lock-down/outbreak in Guangdong, I think ... and it's gone.

We must 'celebrate' 100-years and many thous. years of kwaize's history ...

A:They're saying you should be in China already because entering China is pretty much impossible at the moment due to covid restrictions. This means schools can only recruit from people already in the country. Also, unless you have dual citizenship you probably wouldn't meet the visa requirements to teach (teach English that is, maybe you could teach other subjects, I don't know) in China. They have a native speaker requirement that means only people from certain countries will be accepted. The second point will probably get this post downvoted, any time you mention the native speaker requirement it brings out one or two angry thumbs - they don't seem to understand nobody on this forum makes the rules..... Anyway, my advice to you would be to look elsewhere. Between China's tough visa requirements and their even tougher covid measures it's pretty much impossible to go there now to teach. The good news is that other countries are dropping their covid restrictions and opening up again so there are probably still opportunities available to you. Good luck. -- Stiggs
