Q: What is the best website/HR agency to find a job in China?

I am considering spending a couple of years in China but I would need to find a job in which I could afford not being able to speak Chinese in the beginning. Although I am taking classes, it will only be for a month so I won't really learn much. Could you tell me of a good website/HR agency to look for Beijing,Shanghai, Hong Kong jobs?

Thanks!

Depends on the type of job you're looking for!

If it's a teaching job, DON'T go through an agent! Find the schools where you want to work, look over the net to find out what others think of them (various forums out there), and contact them directly!

Be aware that there are lots of scams out there - lots of people want to rip you off - so DO YOUR HOMEWORK before you sign anything!

Also remember, you NEED to have your Z visa/RP sorted out BEFORE you come here - and you DO NOT have to pay any agents any fees.

Do NOT be in a hurry to get this job, or come to China... rushing things could cost you a LOT of trouble down the road!

Aside from this site, Dave's ESL Cafe.

But yes, try to contact the schools direct. Agents will waste a lot of your time, and may end up with nothing you want.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
