Will they be able to keep expenses and the value of the rmb down low enough that they can continue being the world exporter for cheap product, or will they have to learn to become creative and not just copy because the cheap copies will be made elsewhere for cheaper. Becomes the question of the entire countries economy and ability to grow.
People's angry about the higher price of everything!
Me!
gurl power!
DaBen:
Your gurl power can't possibly spread that fast.... so only western China has that issue at least for awhile.
Honestly, I think it will be the ability to innovate.
China is NOT going to remain the manufacturing base of the world for much longer, a lot of companies are already planning to relocate to cheaper locations (Vietnam, India, Cambodia, etc) because costs are rising here. This is the 25th month in a row where the cost of everything in Shanghai has gone up and the rest of the country is following suit. Within the next 2 years it's going to be cheaper for big companies to build a new factory somewhere else and hire locals there than it will be to maintain their current operations in China. Plus, there isn't the pesky "give us all of your intellectual property" BS. These companies don't care about anything but profit margins, so there is nothing holding them back and forcing them to be here.
Anyway, China needs to innovate and this is a major problem here.
The gap between the extremely rich and the poor. The rich just flaunt it so much, it is obscene at times and there are so many of them. The government needs to find a way of taxing them more so they can fk half of the designer stores off out of the country and spend the extra tax revenue on improved health and education. Also need to divert some of the funds wasted currently on GDP growth projects such as current overproduction in housing and infrastruture(high speed rail, freeways) into environmental and green projects. Getv their scientists into th program and spend money on something that will benifit them selves in the long term. If they want to prove to the world that they are great, what better way than to clean up their mess.
The economy. If the economy tanks then all these other problems people are talking about on here will be set in motion big time. China's walking in America's footsteps, letting it's banks run wild and loans are still being thrown around despite tighter regulations and there;s something like 65,000,000 empty houses that no one can afford to buy. That housing bubble is like 10X bigger than the one in the US.
Inflation, if the yuan goes up, then everything will get more expensive.
has anybody seen a Chinese repo man?
Could be a good bussiness in China if the the buble bursts
It's obnoxious,arrogant,ethnocentric,prejudiced,dishonest,ill-mannered and racist speech and behavior. Oh, and lack of intelligence, maturity and common sense. All done!
China relying too heavily on exports of cheap products is one of the largest long term concerns I think. More and more countries seem to be leaving China for cheaper workers.
Over population can certainly continue to strain infastructure.
Pollution and poor health care is going to continue to get worse imo.
The gap between the haves and have nots.
A housing bubble that will make Americas housing crash look like small peas.
These are all long term issues China will need to figure out how to fix/adress.
Social unrest. Tens of thousands of protests every month across the country from things ranging from human rights to home demolitions. Sending in police goons to beat them and spray them with hoses will only work for so long before it's not enough. I hope Xi Jinpeng can work some magic in the next year or 2 before things get crazy.
