I saw the odd mosquitoes, no cockroaches. When I was a kid, I saw mosies as thick as fog in Manitoba, you couldn't see through the headlights, nothing like that in China? Ticks gross me out, they spread disease as do mosies. My Vet told me the rain down from trees in Hawaii. I had some weird little flies in my bathroom. What insects have bothered you? Anything unusual?
for some reason mosquitoes don't like me - i must have bad blood or something. The cockroaches here are the size of small dogs and freak me out. But the biggest pain are the TINY flies that buzz around at night......they even make it through the insect screens
Fruit flys are very bothersome. If you don't throw your trash out or fruits they can come out of nowhere. They are so small too so it will take some to kill them all..
I am for some reason not bothered by insects. There simply isn't really any here. Warm humid climate, should be perfect for all sorts of flying crap, but just don't think it is very much here. I guess the chemicals they frequently spray all over the parks around the buildings.
Usually mosquitoes love me, I think this year they've only got me a handful of times
china is a funny country. there are laws restricting flies in a bathroom but flies can gather in mass at food serving areas. so flies aren't allowed to play with your shat but they are allowed to play in your food.
only in china
I truly hate those super tiny mosquitoes. They bite me even if I cover myself with Autan spray (which works to keep the regular tiger mosquitoes away). One bite, hitch for 2 hours.
Even if in our community they spray around, and even in the sewage pipes, still we got plenty.
Good thing, in the house where I live now, we got no cockroaches. Found just 2 in 1 year.
The flies are damn annoying, but the cockroaches freak me out. My apartment is so poorly made, with random cracks and holes that I have a visit off one every now and again. The most upsetting thing happened yesterday though, I was walking around my kitchen barefoot, stood on something, looked down, and it was a cockroach( They just don't make water hot enough

Oh god if one flew at me I think I'd have to make my excuses and leave China, that's just insane! :( And yeah I remember the sound, I hear it every night as I close my eyes. Never felt so much disgust and guilt at the same time.
No one sees scorpions other than on sticks. If there's enough for BBQ, then there must be a bunch some where.

I notice that you always like to answer your own questions but not others...why? or rather no why? lol!

Is a comment OK? I thought of one, Cicada. I hear them in Canada, but maybe only a single, in China they get really loud. I like them though.
The mosquitoes here in Yunnan are terrible. So vicious! Keep me awake all night buzzing round my ears. Bite ten times or more in one night. Fit through the fly screens, are immune to insect sprays it seems.
Thank god I don't have cockroaches, I can stand any other insect, but cockroaches. Ugh.
The Spark Fly. No why.
TedDBayer:
Do they have Fireflies in China? About June, we have them, at night you can see them every where, flashing green and white in the air and on the ground, really cool.
Centipedes. They look scary and are poisonous.
I found 2 last year. Luckily they dissapeared now. I asked the landlady and she looked so normal & relaxed, I was freaking and wanted to have fumigated my apt asap but she seemed to be familiar with those bugs.
The dragonflies here are amazing. Just the amazing amount of them dive bombing each other.
