Q: What brand of air purifier do you use in China?

I'm looking to buy an air purifier.  First for my bedroom and then a larger one for our living room.  Tell me what you like about your current unit or what you don't like.

Buy lot of plants, much better the electricity consuming and pollution making appliances. Put as many green leafs at your home, and you will feel it Smile

Or smoke more marlboro to cover that smell of outside

eitsky:

I have a few plants already but I'm hoping to buy some more.  I'm sensitive to the pollution as I'm sneezing constantly so I'm definitely going to buy an air purifier.

Using more energy to clean-up pollution from energy production... I know it's not your answer, but really, things won't improve like that. Vote with your feet, leave the place :(

Dr. Monkey - Yes the pollution is bad here but consider the fact that this is the world's factory.  First world countries get cheap products from China and in order to develop cheap products and stay competitive, they use coal power.  China is transitioning away from a manufacturing economy and they are making progress on other forms of energy production (solar, hydro, and wind for example).

DrMonkey:

That's a tad more complex. Yes, China is producing a lot of things cheaply, yes, coal power is used because it's cheap... and to keep it *real* cheap, the coal is not processed to remove sulfur compounds, and power plants (nor steel mills) don't follow Chinese regulations. Corruption is so easy, rule of the law is such a joke... So a small bunch of men are making money at the expense of hundred of millions of lungs.

Since 2000, empty cities are built, unneeded railways have been built, at a huge expense ... that could have been spent on a better energy production infrastructure. The pollution in China is largely due to negligence and greed, it's not an unavoidable fatality. Per dollar of product made in China, China produce more pollution than most country, expect India which is in the same ballpark. It could hardly be avoided until the mid 90's. After that, it's greed and negligence.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
