Q: What can I get my colleagues when I leave my present job?

After three great years at my middle school I am moving on.  The staff have been really nice to me.  I work with about ten teachers. What are some suggestions for nice gifts that I can get my colleagues? I want to get both the men and women the same things.

Perhaps having dinner at a nice restaurant will be better than buying 10 mugs or 10 photo frames. Going away gifts are always very cheesy and whatever you give, it ends up not being used. I've got 3 photo frames and 2 mugs from my ex company's colleagues who left earlier than me and they are still in their original boxes.

Whatever you do, i think its a very thoughtful gesture. A dinner or a round of beers is probably best but any gift you give is great.

I was 21, fresh out of university and landed my first teaching job in china as a homeroom kindergarten teacher on a pretty standard 20,000/month salary. I'm 1 year in now and am still happy. Pretty much all international kindergarten jobs on here want 2 years experience, but many will still accept if you have experience in your home country. With that being said, being white and having a nice looking face is much more of a decision factor in china vs the west, if you can- use it to your advantage. Good luck finding something! -- brinsleym
