Bird flu ,Swine flue ,SARS. does it worry you? and what do you do about it?
11 years 1 week ago in Health & Safety - China
Nope, not worried at all. Good kitchen hygiene should prevent getting bird flu.
Note. There is a lot of people who are freaked out and not eating poultry. However these people have failed to realize that birds fly, and that they therefore do not respect where farmers farm vegetables. Therefore, eating a piece of lettuce that a bird has crapped on is just as good a source for the H7N9 virus as eating the bird itself.

NYTimes has an article here that is soothing for the nerves http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/19/world/asia/china-finds-no-sustained-evidence-of-human-to-human-flu-link.html?_r=1&
I make it a point to never EVER kiss birds in the beak...
strike first , strike from a distance . arm yourself with a sniper rifle and take out every bird and pig in your area.
crimochina:
cut out the middle man, put the bodies right in their kitchen sinks

THATS what I had for dinner last night!!!!! I was wondering where the bullet came from...
If I was living in the same room as a few thousand chickens I'd have reason for concern (about my sanity as much as anything else). I'm not so I don't worry.
Not to be 'that guy', but...leave China? Outside of that, there's probably not much you can do, unless you only eat thoroughly cooked food and avoid all human contact (if the human to human transmission news is true).
Scandinavian:
Human2Human transmission is not true, read the NYT link I posted above.

wow, the new york times says its not true, so it cant be true lol...
I don't worry about either the Bird flu or the Swine flu, they seem to be pretty much the same thing anyway, and with a lower infection rate than seasonal flu there doesn't seem to be too many reasons to worry about it. Finally, it is not like we can do that much about it as birds do fly and so the disease could (potentially) travel fairly easily.
As it has been confirmed that the infections come from wet markets, staying away from those would be the way to go. But remember, the person shopping for the restaurant you have dinner at, might have kept his dead chickens feces together with the vegetable that will be wokked for you. Cooking should take care of the virus, but you know how nothing is ever done properly in China
Carry a cat.

...then you also need a dog to protect you from any toxoplasmosis from the cat. The dog could kill you at any moment, so why not risk it with the birdy flu.
For me I'd stay away from people that don't wash their hands regularly...you know who you are you included phillyPoo! I'd also stay away from birds until this thing clears up! Oh yeah and drink plenty of water and take a shower.....Philly poo when was the last time you had a shower? Pew!
Oopsy Daisies posted twice for some odd reason must just be a Philly thing......anyways stay away from birds and wash your hands regularly. I hope you do that Philly poo I got my eye on you!
