A smelly employee.

I posted a question a while back about one of my co-workers in the office stenching the place up. I've hinted at it very, very openly, to no avail.

Back home, this guy's reek would have caused a riot.

Drinking on the job, at the behest of the boss and other managers.  I've come back from lunch on more than a few occasions quite trashed.

I have a friend who works in a big Chinese company and if she doesn't want to go to work, and she often doesn't want too, she simply calls a coworker and asks them to cover for her. As well as that she calls her manager and tells him she "has something to do", and it works. Accountability has nothing to do with her job. Enough of that would certainly get you canned back home.

Telling the female staff how pretty they look today....

LAR:

"Telling............today." If that's really true, that is ridiculous. :(

- Being rude and obnoxious to clients.

- Ignoring correspondence from clients.

- Going to sleep in meetings.

- Sitting at your desk with a mirror putting on face make up in the middle of the office.

- Spitting in the waste paper bin.

- Sending out emails and other correspondence with "smileys" or pretty pictures on it.

- Giving your workmates shoulder massages or thumping the hell out of their back.

- Bringing the kids to work instead of leaving them at home with a nanny.

- Letting the kids that you bring to the office QQ and watch movies on the company computer. -- Asking your foreign boss to supply English lessons for your friends and family.

- Having time off every single month because of some strange made up national festival.

I have a foreigner friend who shows up 30 minutes late everyday, leaves for lunch 1 hour to 30 minutes early, spends 2-4 hours at lunch, sleeps for half an hour upon returning to the office, plays computer games, leaves 30-45 minutes early everyday.  Sometimes he shows up drunk.  Sometimes he doesn't show up at all.  He still has a job.

Where do you work Chaching? Sounds like a great place to work at!

MasqueX:

I was thinking the same.. do they have an office in Shanghai? My lab boss is a prick! 8:30am to 12:30pm lab, 1:30pm to 2:30pm lunch, 2:30pm to 6:30pm lab, then 6:30pm to 7:30pm dinner, finally 7:30pm to 9pm. Penalties for foul language, being more than 3 minutes late, etc..

I want that job. fml.
