Q: What is the cheapest way to get to Hong Kong (visa run)?

My L visa is ending soon and I need to get a new one there. I am currently in Shanghai. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Well undoubtedly the cheapest way would be to walk, however, I get the idea you aren't open to that option.

Next cheapest would be coach I would imagine.

Water buffalo and wagon, probably make the news and get famous.. I think the bus is the cheapest.

Have you looked at sending it to a company to submit it? Jump in guys, I don't know any companies that help with visa.

Come on guys, she/he is in Shanghai currently,

To go to Hong kong you have three main ways:

1-Take the direct flight from Shanghai to Hongkong, may cost you around 4500 - 5000 RMB for two way ticket

2- Take flight from Shanghai to Shenzhen, and then take the high speed train from there, you will in Hong Kong is less than an hour, this may cost you around 2000 RMB for the two way include both the flight and train charges

3- Take the train from Shanghai to Shenzhen, it will takes around 18 hours to get there and then you can take the high speed train again from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, this will cost you around 1200 RMB for the two way

Hope this information will be useful for you

Have a good trip

By train, the cheapest express train ticket from Shanghai to Shenzhen costs only 234 RMB,but it will be hard to get one if you want to go before the Spring Festival.Maybe you can go there after February 9th.This is the site to book the ticket.

vale1:

Why does everyone still recommend going to Shenzhen first? The train ticket to HK is usually about 10-20 yuan more expensive (depends from where you are departing), but the trains are much better, cleaner and in the end it turns out to be cheaper - you arrive straight to Kowloon and therefore there's no need to spend ~40 HKD on the subway from Lo Wu.

Usually I fly to Shenzhen, stay one night there, get airport bus to Kowloon, get VISA done, come back and fly back from Shenzhen. The visa office we all use is Forever Bright Travel in Kowloon.
