Q: What Chinese brands of cigarettes are preferred by you foreign smokers?

What is worth trying and what's going to split your lungs open on the first drag?

I like Honghe. Not the best but they are cheap. Double Happiness/hongshuangxi isn't bad either. If I want something more expensive, Nanjing is pretty nice tasting.

Most of anything else I've tried has been awful.

Double Happiness seem to be the best for me, but sometimes they aren't the real deal, they still charge you 7rmb. Not sure why but they are hard to get as the shop keepers usually only get one carton a week.
Don't smoke the fake ones (similar looking pack) 2.5 rmb per pack, man they do blow your lungs and burn your tongue

luggi:

They are not fake, but made from Wuhan Tobacco. The 7 kuai ones are from Shanghai Tobacco... but true enough they are disgusting lol^^

When I fisrt came to China I smoked Zhonghua cigarretes that cost 40-50 rmb a paquette. I realised one day that there is very little diference between one paquette of cigarettes in China to another. Thats when I started buying 5 rmb paquettes, Hatamen, Honghe, etc. Very cheap and not too bad. On certain occasions I smoke Lanzhou black that cost 20+ rmb, I'm not sure, however if they taste different or if I am just fooling myself in to thinking they taste better.

One thing I am sure about is that the difference is minimal and you can spend hundreds on cigarettes that are very similar to the cheap ones. In China people use cigarettes to show off. They will buy an expensive paquette if they go to a meal with other people, like a show of wealth whether they are wealthy or not. Appearances are everthing in China and it can be a difficult game to play or to even understand.

One word of warning: I've tried a few cigarettes that cost less than 5 rmb and the difference is huge. Better just throw them away as they are unsmokable.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
