Even though it's very different, are there any Chinese names you have found to sound beautiful?
Can't say I find Chinese names to be somewhat beautiful sounding. I can't even remember 90% of the names that are told to me. It just sounds like blah, blah, blah to me most of the time.
So, I guess my answer is no.
chinese characters own his special pronounce features, one words maybe has many means, for chinese, good name not only sound smoothly also need have good means. for foreigner, if you don't understand what your chinese friends name words true mean, you have to only share by their pronounce amusement.
You have to understand a Chinese name for it to appear beautiful.
e.g. Ju Hua may not sound that appealing to the ear if you don't know what it is.
I like "Yu Miao" even t hough I do not know what it means BUT I do know it does NOT mean "fish cat"!
金鱼
I don't know if that's supposed to be in traditional characters or what, but it means goldfish.
what about "tian tian" (double sweet), "huan huan" (double happy), "hao hao"(double good), "lan lan" (double blue), "hua hua"(double flower), "li li"(double beauty),"xiao nan"(little south), "xiao yong" (little brave), ,,,,,,,,,also "xiao bai"(young fool)
i like the one i use it refers to a type of river
(Jíliú.hé)
I met a guy named 严灵剑, or "Serious Soul Sword". Not necessarily beautiful, but pretty bad-ass.
Well I don't think Chinese is a "beautiful" sounding language to begin with, so that's an issue for me.
In most languages, it (at least to me) seems incredibly easy to differentiate between male and femal names. If you tell me a Chinese name, I have no idea if it's a man or a woman. I have met men and women who share the same name as well.
The "doubling up" of words in a name is a little too cutesy for my liking:
Like "TianTian", "QiaoQiao", "NiNi", "WeiWei", etc. It just seems to me to be like:
"Hi, my name is Robert, but call me BobBob, this is my wife Denise, call her DeDe and, and our son Richard, but you can call him RickRick".
That's just my personal preference though.
My son's name. Li Nuo 李诺。looks beautiful, sounds nice, has a nice meaning and his nick name is Nunu. Plus of course my son is the cutest little boy I've ever seen....my that's just straight mom talk...haha!
