Merry Christmas all. This is my 8th Christmas away from celebrating the Chistimas season in America. While I never appreciated the commercial value of Christmas, my faith of Christmas and it's religious meaning is missed most. While I wish I could find a church family here (unrealistic), I especially miss the religious connections of Christmas the most.
What part of the Christmas season have you missed during your time in China?
As a Christian in faith, it is interesting to me how differently the Christmas season feels with the absence of Jesus Christ instilled in the foundation of the holiday. Despite the westernized Christmas decorations and the various holiday related school events, there is such a hollow and empty feeling to Christmas here in China. As Scrooge put it, "it is a poor excuse to rob a man's pocket every 25th of December". Sure, I miss the decorations and the famiy time devoted to the holiday, but the church was always the brightest time for me during the holiday season.
I wasn't aware, how I missed unrestricted access to various Internet portals while I was in China.
It's a milk&honey-web out of China ...
turkey dinner. Christmas tree, and the gathering of people you seem to see only once a year
