My first choice was Hangzhou, but I didn't find a job online. So instead, I picked a job with a good contract even though it is in a smaller city several hours away. Next year, I will try my best to find a job in Hangzhou, even if I have to go there and ask at each school in person. What about you? Is there a city you want to try living in? Do you wish you lived there instead?

I do miss Chongqing and all the great spicy food. So if I had to pick, it would be to return to my old stomping grounds there.
What a coincidence, I went to Hangzhou last week, and I loved it so much I want to live there now!
Any somewhat big city with a warm weather would do, Beijing is too fast and cold on the long run.
Hangzhou too... first time, after reading Moment in Peking, second time, after actually visiting Hangzhou in 2005. I'm living in Guangzhou, but I know I'll go to live there someday
i did like some parts of xian very mordern looking arcitecture but other parts to much traffic and people, shanghai looks nice but never been there. I will be living in yinchuan not a 1st tier busy city but still big enough to cater for a lot of things and friendly people and nice food.
.
shenzhen hands down! very lively modern i feel free there
I think Xiamen or Nanjing would be good for me. They're a bit smaller than Shanghai (but still much larger than where I'm from.) I haven't actually been to Xiamen yet to know for sure that I'd like it but it sounds amazing.
Shenzhen is hands down the best...granted this is the only place I have lived, but have visited other cities.
Warm year round.....very modern new city center with hordes of expats, western food stores, resteraunts, bars, nightclubs and Starbucks! (too bad I am in the factory town suburbs)
And a 40 minute subway/train ride to awesome Hong Kong (not counting the wonderful experience of crossing the border).
For English teachers this place must seem like heaven compared to the rest of the country!
Shanghai would be my second choice.
Odd - I'm in Hangzhou now, and found getting a job here fairly easy and pain free (although, I did start looking a little earlier, and it did take a little bit of time to get). If you've got the quals and experience, it shouldn't be a problem! (if you don't, there's always Disney English )
I, like others, specifically chose to come here - and thus, I can only say (for the time being) the city I'd like to live in, is the city I AM in.
Same as Shenzhen - it's got pretty much everything you'd want (including buses and some taxis that stop at pedestrian crossings!) Also, good expat scene for when you want/need it. Great food (in the centre of the city), and Shanghai is less than an hour by fast train.
Weather... yeah, ok... comes and goes (getting a little chilly now, and it's not even winter :( )
If I went anywhere else, I'd probably head to Kunming - if I could get the money I'm after as well (3000 just isn't enough!)
I'd like to give Harbin a try. I've never been somewhere where it gets really really cold before. And they make beer ther! Sounds good to me.
