You can actually buy vodka in China, rather easily...Carrefour carries it; RT-Mart carries it; TESCO carries it; and most of the major supermarkets including Metro carry it.  There are brands produced locally and brands imported from Russia, Poland, Finland and the United States.

Or you can purchase it from taobao....

Just look here :

Yian:

one thing still confuses me, and another worries me.

I am confused because I do not know if you really want vodka or you want "Chinese spirits" ?.  A bottle of vodka, a good quality one like ABSOLUT or STOLYCHNAYA sells locally in the 100 to 150 price range.  Cinese spirits sell around 1/5 of that.  But vodka is the only one who really has no taste or odour, so it is normally used as a source of alcohol by those like me who like to make "wine" from fruits, while Chinese spirits do have a strong smell and a real bad taste you must grow used to.  So, depending what you will use it for, you can choose the one that will fit your needs best.

Second, I worry because after a horrible day, many problems and other things, trying to drown your sorrows with alcohol may or may not be a wise solution.  Yes, you will forget everything for a while, but next day you will have a horrible headache, and the problems will still be with you.

Be careful, and above all, be wise in your choice.  Drinking is not always the best solution to a problem or to a "real bad day".

I read an article yesterday on Page 1 of the New York Times about vodka and the world-famous Bolshoi Ballet Theatre in Moscow.  It seems, according to the article, that they cleaned a good part of the theatre with vodka to clean away the dust and grim of the last 150 years.  Dreadful thought...if it can act as a cleaning agent, what must it do to the human body?

Anything done in excess will most probably harm you, things done with moderation may benefit you.  Maybe this is why vaccinations are good for you, help built your immune system, while sickness is not.

Many doctors will tell you that one drink a day is good for your health, helps your heart, your liver and kidneys.  Yet, if you get drunk every day, they will tell you to stop it inmediately.

To use vodka as a cleaning agent may be a good idea, not an source of harm to your body.  Vodka is just about equal parts of alcohol and water (50% by volumen).  Actual vodka sold in bottles has even less alcohol content than that, around 25 %.   Used as cleaning agent, the alcohol will help disolve the grit and oil, with dust mixed in, that accumulates during years of exposure.  One shot of vodka per day will do you no harm, two bottles per day will eventually kill you.
