Q: What compensation do you get if you find something not so edible in your meal?

Do they offer you a free meal, discounts, full refund. Has it ever happened to you?

Nope.  None at all.

I once found a dried rat turd in the dried soybean (huang dou). All the waiter did was pick out the turd and place the bowl back on my table...

You get a very friendly "Bu hao yisi" and that's it. Try digging for something else and the claws will start coming out.

Depends on where you are, and where you go.

I went to Pala Chicken in Changsha and got a replacement sandwich when something was bad. They also gave me some fries as part of the apology.

I also went to CNXLS or something, in Zhangjiajie, another Chinese chicken place, and basically got a free meal. They replaced two bad sandwiches with mold on them, and gave me something else for free as part of the apology package. I think I even got a partial refund.

this is china, no accountability whatsoever unless you are a foreign run company then you will have to pay through the nose and deal with bad press. and magically the "govt agency responsible for inedible objects found in food," will appear and fine the restaurant.

Hey-  this is China you're talking about. When you say "not so edible" you do understand you are talking about the whole meal, RIGHT? WE'VE BEEN EATING THIS "STUFF" FOR 7000 YEARS, WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM??The incidence of diarrhea is very high although denied by the native residence. You will find only one product in the pharmacy where they have THREE products to choose from and that's not because there is no problem. In reality most of the problems come from street vendors but not because the food is poor quality  or improperly prepared. It is because when the day is done left  overs are stored in non-refrigerated  containers. For real non edibles if examined you will find most of them are children's toys because the new middle class Chinese lack the will to discipline or control their children and they insist on sitting in the spaghetti dishes but they are so cute. If current parental practices remain in effect much longer, Chinese children are going to grow up to be American children!!

You get to enjoy the company of a tape worm! No more loneliness! And it's free!

But in all seriousness, the few times I had to complain about my food (and trust me, I am not picky when it comes to cleanliness), they actually took it back and made a new one. Well, at least that's what I believe, but now that I think of it... I'm starting to question their honesty.

BUT, at McDonald's, if you find a hair in your burger or its wrapping, they give you a new one, and sometimes even an additional refund.

That's how my friend always ate at McDonald's for free.

I got two warm cookies at Subway when they f'd up bigtime. I didn't cause a scene, I just mentioned there was no cheese on my sandwich (a sandwich without cheese was an unpardonable crime in Ancient Rome; punishable by execution in the Amphitheatrum Flavium). I thought it was a nice gesture (the cookies, not the executions).

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
