Q: What is the craziest thing you have heard from a doctor

I have just read of someone who was told by their doctor not to have sex during their period as it would push the blood back into the body and give them an infection. Another wise doctor told a patient that his throat infection was caused by eating too much wet fruit. What wonders of  medicine can you impart to improve the health and wellbeing of us all?

As a certified doctor with countless MD/Phd from Tsinghua University and Peking University, I assure you that drinking hot water will cure any type of cancer and even AIDS.

I'm not sure, what was the craziest I heard. angel

All adults in my family are MDs.

The best advice is (mine): 'Stay far away from the Hospitals and MDs'.

A friend of mine got a brilliant piece of advice from a certified doctor at Tongji (the biggest) hospital in Wuhan: double your dose of insulin to get rid of your diabetes. Plus drink hot water of course.

icnif77:

I can't believe MD said that. That's 'killing prescription'.

The doctor in Qingdao told me that because I drink between 6 and 16 beers per day I should refer to the bible.

@Scots: Ozzies drink beer from the glasses, nothing like 'pint of Harp' or 'ein litre Heffeweizen', so 16 small, juice glass beers.angelI'm provoking here, I know.

Only drink from the bottle in China. Or can.  In fact I fudged a bit to the doctor.  The real amount should've been between 6 and 23.  The best (worst) effort ever was 23 big bottles overnight at a restaurant.  I know the number because that's what the laoban told me the next day.

I'm drinking a lessor amount these days.

well,,,  not exactly heard,, but experienced... Dentist,,, which is supposed to be a Doctor,, at least they are in the US.  anyway,,,,  I went to the dentist in JiaXing, Zhejiang in 2006,,,,  regular toothache stuff,,, I get settled in the chair and the guy starts doing his thing,,, I'm patient,, figuring this is their way,,  then the fkr starts friggin drilling on my tooth ... No Anasthesia !!!  I was in that chair tripping out like I was in Marathon Man or something !!  I finally told the dick-head that I had to have an anasthetic.   sooooo,,, he whips out this giant metal, stainless-steel hypodermic that looks like it was from the 1940's,, needle about as big as a decent sewing needle and starts to (reluctantly) give me an injection.  To top it all off,, he gave me the friggin' injection without a topical !!   man,,, I could just feel that fkn needle piercing into my gum.... Fk that hurt!

icnif77:

I'm telling you, my late pop was one. It still hurts, even if I think about that years on his chair.

When I was kid, he always said: 'the dentist's son can't cry..' instead numbing.

I had fairly good (and cheap) mouth work in China. I had denture done in Dalian with few implants, and at my mum's, all dentists greeted work done (and price) in China.

Chinese dentist syringes are like veterinarian big animals tools.

My woman is now 6 months pregnant. The doctor just told her foreigner babies are bigger so she cant take any calcium. No orange juice no milk nothing.

Jeez. Thanks doc. And lemme guess, you also have a great and expensive cure for scurvy and osteoporosis.

It's most likely true, foreign babies are bigger. My friends wife just had a baby and he is HUGE! bigger then babies almost double his age and he eats a lot. But then again don't listen to the doctors "advice" the baby needs his minerals, vitamins, proteins and all that good stuff, when he is born and in the early moments of his life it is crucial he is strong enough to handle himself in the real world.

@Mike, if the doctor is a female in VIP Kanghua, punch her straight in the face. I had similar BS when my daughter was 6 months old. My wife's milk (of course we've been breastfeeding) was super rich and my daughter was growing beautifully and healty 1kg+/month and 1,5cm+/month, but on a routine check (the first and the last....) we've been told that our daughter was missing calcium and she had to take some pills she would suggest. Of course with no analysis whatsoever, just looking her in the eyes.... Ignoble whore......
