A picture is usually drawn, sketched, printed etc. A photograph is an image that is captured with a recording device such as a camera or video camera. Duh!

A picture isn't just art. We always 'take a picture'. A picture also means a photo.
a picture is an image of something or somebody. A photo is a picture that is derived from a camera.
