Q: what disturbing sights do you see in China ?
I'm not thinking of spitting on the sidewalk or spitting bones on the table. I've seen pictures of dogs killed for meat. I know keeping pets is a growing trend in China. I stop to look at most people that have Collies because I have one at home. I went to a flea market that was dogs, puppies and other pets. I met a group of dog owners that get together every evening and stopped to play with some of the dogs.Then late last night I saw two guys with 7 large cages of puppies. The pups were so crammed in, they could not stand.The pups were 2-3 months old and different types and very dirty. Some pups were wagging their tails when I walked up.The men were pushing steel poles thru the cages to lift them onto a scooter truck. The pups were squealing when the men were doing this. I had a feeling something bad was going to happen to the pups. What I saw was disturbing enough and just when I thought the Chinese might be pretty decent with animals.
I've seen dirty stray cats digging through the garbage dump..not a pleasant site to behold. I've seen some clean one's before and all of them seem to be scaredy cats!
The domestic type felines in the cages down at the 'wet' market. They just had this really bummed-out look on their faces. You could just tell they knew what they were in for...
Also have you ever watched them butcher frogs? Wow, totally sucks to be a frog... I won't tell you what they do. Just go hang out a couple of hours in a real wet market. If you are not a vegetarian, you just might be after your visit there....
