Chinese cities are alive, full of energy.

Western cities with their urban planners have taken all the fun out if city living.

I don't think one can generalize. Many people are here for different reasons: some love the language and the culture, others are in love with someone here, others yet like the comfortable lifestyle, the food, the relative cheap cost of living etc. But there isn't one universal reason for everyone.

For me I like living in the old town districts, close ties with neighbors, easy to buy daily things. The lifestyle that is disappearing quickly, but still exists for now in some cities.

It doesn't feel like the 'real world'. It's like a Disneyland for foreigners, where things are cheap, life is fun, and there are little consequences. Work isn't taken seriously, it's easy to pick up women (then break their hearts), the food is generally very good, there's just so much scope for adventure if you wish to travel. Above all, you can look at most things here and say "Thank fuck my country isn't like that!"
