Will be heading through Nanjing soon? Any local delicacies that I need to try? Any that I need to avoid?
You can try Nanjing duck with lotus root. It is not my personal favorite, but it might suit you. Nanjing also serves crayfish that are very delicious with a nice beer during the summer. Just make sure you eat at a restaurant with a lot of turnover so that the food is fresh. Other things you can try are actually specialties of Jiangsu province like Yangzhou Fried Rice and baozi (steamed bread).
Money. You need money, preferably RMB. Don't you read Lonely Planet?
So in Nanjing, there's a noodle soup shop, if you can finish their big bowl, you don't have to pay for it. It's good and cheap, the shop is popular. It's close to the big public library, forgot the street. From the main entrance, cross the large street, there's a tall building with lots of shops... Close to the corner at the other side.
