Traveling during National Day can be a real pain, so I see it as a good opportunity to get to know my own city a bit better and also to hang out with friends more. I suggest cooking a huge feast, buying a few crates of yanjing beer and invite all your friends over for a party. Or check out all the neighborhoods you've yet to check out and just explore...

Yeah, if you plan to travel buy tickets and book hotels ahead of time. Last year my mom visited on national day and we ended up without tickets after leaving the hotel (I'm so embarrassed for that stupid mistake) and ended up having to pay a billion yuan for a hotel room. Still so embarrassed.
