Q: What do people here do in their free time?
My Chinese roommate has recently left her job to study for entering graduate school. Except that I never see her studying, also she always has time to go out with me, sometimes for the whole day. But whenever we go around town, even just a 2 minute walk away, she doesn't recognize anything! She didn't know we had a xiabu xiabu hot pot, literally 3 minutes from her house! So if Chinese people aren't walking around exploring in their free time, what are they doing?
Depends on the individual really...but I noticed a lot of the younger girls will just prefer to stay home and watch some movies or American TV shows on their computer, or QQ chat with their friends, as opposed to going out. Other girls like to go out shopping, KTV, even play majiang or cards with friends. Just sounds like your roommate is more like the former type.
At English corner one time I had one quite pretty young lady of about 17/18 tell me with a straight face that she liked to play with pussy. Turned out to be the name of her kitten. I didn't have the heart to try and explain the other meaning to her , especially as her parents there as well.
If they are not watching TV then they are online...cheaper than going out.
