Fortunately that doesn't happen that often nowadays, but sometimes I run into guys who don't even ask, they just stand next to you & their friend snaps a photo. I don't want to have a photo taken with the people I've never met before. It pisses me off when they want a picture of my son. I don't know how they're going to use it, so I never let them take his picture. How do you act in the situation?
I would usually say "No" or if I am in a good mood ask them for 50 Kuai for the photo
I throw up a gang sign and grab my crotch. No, really I just find it absurd, but the only thing that bothers me is people trying to take pictures of my son. I know they mean well and just think he's cute but it gets my back up.
if its a beautiful female , no problem , anybody else , depends on whether its a bad china day or not
If they ask me, then I do put a smile on my face, make the "V" sign with ,my fingers, and let them have their kicks. If they do not ask, just try to take it, I do turn my face away, or raise my hand to cover my face. And immediately take one of whomever was trying to take mine.
Funny do, I have made some good friends with this picture taking business. And embraced some very nice Ladies too !.
Most of the time, I have no problem with it. But, like others have said, it becomes a problem when they start to annoy my boys. When we lived in Wuhan, it was horrible. If I took my boys someplace in public, they would on average have their photos taken 10+ times per hour.
Of course, it has lead to them both being paid to have their photos placed on the cover of "Parents" magazine. :) So I can't complain too much.
I'm the one who usually photobombs Chinese people taking pictures, and I make utterly asinine faces. I don't mind getting my picture taken, and even ask people to take their picture with me.
"Wow, you look like Yao Ming. Can I take a picture with you?"
"Oh look! Minnie Mouse! Here, take a picture of us together."
etc
Hummm to allow or not to allow??? It is really one of those, how I feel at the time they ask. Me I am ugly; but my son .. Total angel!! Three years old happy all the time. Blue eyes like the sky and they always so oh he's so lovely. I always get asked for him or I look over and they are snapping away without even asking. When we first arrived I was like sure. Now I know better. As an example we went to Tiger Hill. Nice place lots to see and lots of tourist, it started as great fun then I was ask could a ladies little girl take a picture with my son? I was like sure before I knew what happen then they started to line up!! By the time I had a handle on it we must have had hundreds of photos taken and it took almost an hour. It was crazy and once it starts it is hard to tell others you cant. Well at that time it was; I have learned to be aware and not always say yes. Now my son really doen't even like anyone to touch him. He use to like the attention but I think he's way over it now. So I like what ambiv. said .. my son feels the same way. If they are nice looking he still does it but if not .. he normally just yells BOO!!! So out of the mouth of babes comes wisdom .. if they are hot why not. All others get the BOO!!!
As long as they ask first. When they just try to take it, I find that a little intrusive, so look away. I guess it's just the ill-founded arrogance that seems to be so common in Chinese society.
When I did get asked it was always by women. Mostly I posed with my arm around them. I had a family of women ask me to pose on The Great Wall, which I did nicely until the last and oldest womans turn. As they took the picture I kissed her on the cheek, everybody laughed.
Usually, if they ask nicely, I will oblige them, although this hasn't happened in a looooooong time. If it's a cute girl, my arm's going around her waist (shoulder in the case of midgets)....the price of admission
If it's a dude, I'm usually having to fight off his attempt to put his arm around me
I welcome women/girls to take my photo with them
guys --- get lost weirdo's
family -- tired of it ---special OK, but enough is enough dammit.
I politely refuse photos and if the are persistent I just say I'm from Xinjiang.
this trip I will have a T-shirt saying if you want to stare 5rmb if you want to talk 10rmb if you want photo you must buy me dinner should be a intresting trip
As long as it's not abusive I allow to have my picture taken.
But I do draw a line at a certain point.
Being in a Scottish kilt does attract and so it is my own fault to be sure.
Other than that, it's all fine to me.
Remember, we are the foreigners! So be gracious.
I always oblige, especially when it's with cute girls/boys. I always throw my arm around them and make a kissing noise. Why not? #YOLO
If I am not occupied with something else, I usually oblige. In Dujiangyan a few years back, a family sent their son to my table to ask me, since he spoke a little English. I said ok, ended up taking pictures with all the family, about 10 minutes worth of pictures. Not a big deal. When I ask for my bill, the girl told me they had paid for my dinner and drinks. So, good gestures brings welcome rewards.
I simply decline. Unless they want me to take a picture for them. But I'm not gonna take a picture with a complete stranger. Who knows what they are up to. They might take your photo and use it on the internet in a wrongful way!
i feel good and take with them, because i dont wanna make any one sad,and dont make them frown..................
