Do you blatantly stare at them back? I find it strange that when I catch people blatantly staring at me in China, they usually continue staring at me when I make eye contact with them. I used to ignore it, but now I try to turn it into a bit of a staring contest to make it more fun.
What do you do when Chinese guys blatantly stare at your Chinese wife/girlfriend? Do you ever say anything?
I stare back whilst cursing under my breath and forcing myself not to flip the middle finger.
Red_Fox:
Careful, laddie. You might incur the formidable wrath of the fictitious character called Watson. I have it on good account, stead and reputation that this avatar is piloted by some oddball poster out of Oz. And he/she apparently has a HUGE grudge against his/her native land. Who knows, right? Maybe got screwed out of some land deal in the outback. Ancestral rights or something like that. Just... be.. careful...
Good tips overall here but if the onlooker is a full body tattooed male then probably just move on
Sandnose:
Why? I know several intelligent, creative, gentle, family men who wouldn't hurt a fly who are covered in tattoos. What a hypocrite you are, stereotyping someone by their appearance when you whine and moan about the same thing. Pathetic. Give yourself an uppercut.
Depends on who is doing the staring. Sometimes I say hello, sometimes I just go about my business. I do not believe they are doing it in a devilish manner.
It's a six year old question but what the hell, it's one of those Chinese things that every newb needs to learn to deal with by either ignoring it (recommended) or by doing Mr Bean impersonations at them.
I always wave and say hello to random gongoozlers. If I have the opportunity I will try to start up a conversation with them.
I pull one of my bottom eyelids lower with the index finger ... and stare right back at the starer ...
Everybody gets it ... except kids, who'd rather imitate me ..
the staring is rude - and it is quite often accompanied by unsolicited touching or unsolicited photo's being taken.
when it is just the staring (and it could be better described as gawping - usually by men of a certain age who also have cameras) i stare back - and not with a smile.
the staring and unsolicited touching (usually of my hair) - this is mostly children and older women. I would shake my head at this and move away. It is a shame that children are being taught that this is an ok way to treat non-Chinese.
young guys usually stare, say 'helloooo' and giggle like children (the hello and childish giggles are usually after they pass me by) This is very creepy.
none of this staring is polite or they way i would treat someone who was not native to my country, because it is just rude. and 'being curious' is not an excuse. When i am curious about someone, i don't stare, staring dehumanises the person who is being stared at, and we are not zoo exhibits.

'cause you entered ' /p> ' after the dot, while your were editing your message, software won't accept it, so it's displayed at the end of your message.
Once, you edit again and enter ' </p> ' as correct 'end of the text' software's sign, it will disappear.
It doesn't bother me, but LTA I was into COBOL ... programming.
icnif77:
I could pull my eye lid lower while I was telling you this ...
I use that move also when I have to convince somebody is wrong at something ...
I stare back at them and say, "Hello, may I help you?" That usually sends them running
Stare back or take out my phone and take a photo. They can give it but they usually can't take it.
I feel like a hot blonde chick with all the staring. i jut love to give a sexy little srut and shake myyyyyy booty!
Sandnose:
I like the idea. I'll give it a shot. Maybe try some stripper moves too.
Sofaguy:
Yes! Throw out some moves, it's very liberating :D Let's get all the foreigners in China doing the funky shuffle!
