Q: What do you think about all the chinese actors getting roles in Blockbuster movies?
First there was Bing Bing and the other actor in Iron man. Now in Transformers there will be an actor from China having a role in that movie as well Is it a way to draw more audiences in China to watch these movies?

when china buys the biggest theater owner in america and says hire more chinese actors , money talks, bs walks.
so you want more distribution of your movies in china , we want more chinese in the movies
be very interesting to see if this reciprocated or is this a one way deal to the advantage of china like most business relationships here.
seen any famous western actors in chinese movies lately other than flowers of war..

America benefits because it gets to share in China's greatness.
It is because Chinese actors are the greatest in the world. Their very short appearances, which the government insists on if the film is to be allowed to be shown in China, overshadow by the far the stars of the movie, and the movie itself.
All hail the glory of China. China is good, China is great. China is all powerful.

It's when they edit the movies for International CHinese rather than just the mainland Chinese within the mainland which is when I will stop watching any films that come out of that place.
Nothing against Chinese actors and actresses. It's the manipulation by those with Chinese power that I detest.
this is funny, jackie chan , jet li , Chow young Fat (i do not know the details of their origins but i always considered them to be chinese) have been in blockbuster movies for over 25 years. the ccp places a few low level actors in passing scenes of a few movies, and now it is the first time chinese actors have appeared in blockbuster films.

Of course they are Chinese, even though they are not Chinese citizens. Just remember that Arnold Schwr...... is America's greatest movie star, but not American. He almost became President. One day, a Chinese person will be American President.

The movie "Captain Ron" with Kurt Russel and Martin Short was filmed in Puerto Rico, the studios used many local Puertorrican celebrities in the film....

Great question. Did you see Cloud Atlas with Zhou Xun? There was a graphic scene of her doing some ugly dude in it though I doubt they showed that in the Chinese version. I'm so aware of Chinese actors popping up in Blockbusters lately probably because I live in China. But dude, doesn't it seem like product placement? Not to objectify or degrade Chinese actors, but it's obvious that there's an agenda behind their appearance in Hollywood movies: Chinese investment. Often, their English level is really bad and their acting skills sub-par to their Western counterparts. I watched this really bad film recently with the one from Lust/Caution in it, in which she plays an overseas Chinese whose grown up in America all her life but commits a murder and is sent to jail. Her English was so bad it ruined the whole movie!
