Not much.

Its main focus is entertainment. Other than that, they each have their agenda. One Network, Obama can do no right. The other Network, Obama can do no wrong (oversimplifying a bit here).

Biodamon, are you referring to a specific category of American media, or to American media in general?

lets see a tool for the govt. they criticize the govt at every turn. look at some of the vile things they have said about obama and bush (most of it deservedly so) . but the media is a tool for corporations serving to keep americans distracted and at each others throats. the media loves to lie and use half truths just the same as your govt. i read a nice comment on china smack. the commentor talked about the cctv reporting on how americans are pissed at the gas prices. he/she was suspicious that they only reported the price in us dollars per gallon. so they worked out the math to find that gas was 1-2 kuai cheaper per liter inthe usa.  (i have not verified the numbers myself)

whoever is from a country where the media is honest and unbiased please  raise your hand.

When it comes to politics, each network is biased,  as in it will put a spin on it. They don't lie per se, but they will say it in a way that makes it prove their own point. However, the regular news itself is fairly trustworthy. For instance, the amount of casualties in an accident, or statistics, should be reported accurately. That's because if they don't, people will find out, and they will lose face. If later they find something was reported incorrectly, they will correct it (even though by then the damage may already be done). All of the news stations will report on the same thing if it's a big story. Over all, I would say you can basically trust what they say, except for opinionated things like politics. That's all talk anyway.

For the most part they constantly criticize the government at every turn. Except for those bastards at C-SPAN who seem perfectly happy to be the government's toadying yes-men, blandly regurgitating everything without an inch of skepticism..

New topic: Everything bad about America: Actually everything bad about China but doubly bad????? I heard that Americans bribe government officials, teachers, and surgeons twice Shock

According to the site rules, all questions posted must be somehow related to China.  Since this question refers to American Media, I consider it a violation of the rules, and will refrain from answering it, except to say that in America, the media says whatever they (the owners) feel like saying, not what the government tells them to say.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
