They are still people so I value the same things i did at home. However I can say their ability to look at people and situations in a different light than I do. Somtimes open mindedly, sometimes very ignorantly, but always interesting. Also they can help you to understand business practices and how people treat each other here.
Definately LOOKS. I would rather go to a party, meeting, restaurant with a "femme fatal" than with a "dragon" Easier to make contact, closing deals and be contacted "net working". Eyes need to live also. All other things can be ignored or taught.
Noone would ever buy a iPhone if it would look ugly.

People buy phones for their LOOKS first. Especially in China. You better study first some marketing or at least you read something about it BEFORE you give comment and as we are talking about that, the OP asked for it. For me it is definitely LOOKS what is the first important thing, this is with all what I do. Looks comes first. As it go's for dating it is also the first thing what is important that are the LOOKS of that person. This being said everyone has different looks about things or people. Some like big/fat/small, while other like the opposite. ALL DEPENDS, but LOOKS will be first.
Something else. I know alot of good looking women that are really smart and pleasant to be around, but without something else, they're just friends.
For me in order:
1. Personality
2. Appearance
3. Abilty to speak at least some English...enough to communicate.
4. Has a job and money and is not always asking for mine.
5. Has some knowledge of western culture (movies, music, history etc.)
6. Something else?
First, dating a local person makes any different than dating girls back home?
Second, be aware of the difference in every corner of the world, such as a small town girl, a big town girl, a tall girl, a short girl....
Third, What's this question for? Just local==Chinese makes it any different to answer?
Oh, the most valuable things about Chinese girls are they are tooooo beautiful and femmmine ...and elegant and respectful...The best girls in the world....

That's interesting how you view Chinese girls and which criteria you choose to consider them "the best girls in the world" : beautiful, elegant, femmine and respectful. So for you a Chinese woman is worth only according to her appearance.... Her being smart, funny, interesting, cultivated, honest are definitely not among your first criteria...... I am sorry for the woman who stays with you.....once a bit too old, you'll just throw her away for a younger "ernai"... My wife is Chinese, and the first thing I've seen about her is : honesty, reserved in her behavior, but open-minded in her speech...
