Q: What does Merchandiser mean?
Hello,anyone can tell me what is the word"Merchandiser "mean?I couldn't find it in the dictionary.And the meaning I found on line is very confusing.

yes, and if you scroll down you see that "merchandiser" is the NOUN of the word 'merchandise' - this is the part YOU have to do the work and figure it out.
What about word 'jeans' ? How Natives make (say) sentence using word 'jeans'? As 'plural', or as 'singular'?
I'm using (Chinese written) English book for Grade 3 with sentence 'Where are my jeans?' in one lesson. If I (Non) would ask, I would ask in singular. I was convinced, that is mistake in the book, but Internet tells me word 'jeans' is plural.

this is wrong "jeans" is plural, it is implied that "a pair of" is part of what is being said.
you can use the word "a jean" but if you are wearing "a jean" then you will look funny

@Scan: another sentence in the book is with 'pair of shorts', also as plural. I was telling Chinese teacher, there is possible mistake, because I would ask 'Where's my jeans?'. In 'pair of shorts' sentence, I would use pl. edit: word 'jeans' doesn't have -s ending, because it is pl. 'Jeans' is the name of trousers, and 'jean' doesn't have other meaning in English than 'jeans'. In other words, 1 jeans, 2 jeans…. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Jean

No offense Sorrel but I hope next time you ask a Chinese colleague the meaning of a Chinese word you just heard they toss you a dictionary and tell you to look it up.
Merchandiser is job position in the textile industry, mainly related to finished products (garments, bags and similar).
A merchandiser is the person following the development of a product from the beginning to the end, taking into account: sourcing of the materials, evaluation of the materials consumption, quotation of the product, product development phases (sampling, material and samples approval, material testing), pre-production, mass production (these last 2 related to the follow up the purchasing orders request from customer).
One more, please:
What is the correct pl. of word 'euro' ? I say: 'euros', ...…buTT…. 'how's that in comply with pl. of word 'hero' ----> 'heroes'?

i agree, with words like 'potato' and 'hero' the plural is not clear-cut

Chinese teacher asked me that Q in 2011.....and she compared it with the word 'hero'. I'll treat that as a 'specialty'. Thanks!
It doesn't mean anything, just another nonsense word of the modern age, like 'blog' or 'podcast'. That said, please understand that one of the primary reasons English is such a useful, popular language is that it allows/encourages the construction/adoption of new words/terms/manners of speech; that does not mean that we always shoot 100% though.
