Q: What is the easiest way to fly to Dalian?

From which airport is it easiest [less cumbersome and the fewest possible airport irritations] to fly to Dalian:  Hong Kong, Seoul or Beijing?

Beijing - Dalian and Dalian - Beijing about 20 direct flights per day, flying time under one hour.

Hong Kong - Dalian and Dalian - Hong Kong - one direct flight per day, DREADFULLY expensive, all other flights through Beijing per above.

Dalian - Seoul and Seoul - Dalin - about seven direct flights depending upon the day, most reasonably priced.

Haaike:

Ah, that's very helpful.  I thought the Beijing option would be easier.

Hong Kong, Seoul & Beijing all have nice airports. Personally, I would pick Beijing so you only have to go through customs once (unless you are just doing short layovers). If you are doing layovers of 24 hours or more, then I would choose HK or Seoul since either city is a heck of a lot nicer than Beijing.

Welcome to Dalian. Just in time for the insane wind & cold season.

I will do Beijing, then.  Plan to fly out from Johannesburg just after Christmas.  I'm actually going to work in Dalian.  As for the cold and the wind - yipppppppppeeeeee!  I've lived in the Arabian Desert for almost six years [up to 55 Celsius in summer], so I can do with some cold and wind.  What about rain?  Does Dalian get much rain?

Xpat.John:

They do get a little rain, but mostly in the winter it is snow and sleet.  Dress warm because you are going to be very, very cold when you go outside.  But Dalian is a great place, I miss it a lot.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
