For me, i like going to the FoShan fish market in Guangzhou to look at different types of fish and to pick up supplies for my own pet fishes.
side streets of city )
every week I spend there few hours just walking, and sometimes making pictures
i like small cafes/ bakeries. starbucks is a despicable place in this city. loud disgusting behavior not to mention the free loading off the internet.

I avoid going to Cafes. Too many snot nose adolescents who thinks they are somebody important with their Apple products.
Going daily to Wanchai by boat, walking up & down Mong Kok seaside venue and try to avoid congestion and big crowd on Nathan Rd.
Xpat.John:
Gee, I wonder what you shop for in Wanchai & Mong Kok. :) Not that I know what is for sale there or anything.
icnif77:
Not shopping really! Waiting for medical cert, and then Embassy for new visa. HK is nice city for short time. Too congested for my taste.
Prices here are at least 20% lower than in Mainland. Just about anything you buy. There is also bigger quality of hand made goods than in China.
I am enjoying Montecristos for $120 HK a piece.
In Guangzhou I will either head to the 'Tavern' in Panyu or McCoulley's (sp?) in Zhu Jiang New City at least twice a week.
I go to the fish market in Zhanjiang off Hai Bin Da Dao and I go to the seaside park at least twice a week.
going to bowling club or going to yellow river.both of these places are near to me so its easy for me to go there once a week .yellow river side is my favorite place to go
I regularly go to a place just off the city center called DingWanTai, a huge, four-storied building that is full of books, DVD's, CD's, and software. In fact, I was there today. It's full of those postage sized stalls, so there are probably hundreds on the four floors.
I go for the books and DVD's, but you can find just about anything there!
giadrosich:
From your side of the river, go across Number 1 bridge (WuYi Rd), go south on Furong Rd. Right where Furong Rd. goes under Jia Fang overpass (it'll be the 1st overpass.), you'll see a XinHua bookstore. Take a right there, and you can park under the overpass. Facing Furong Rd., and the entrance to DingWanTai will be on your right hand side of the street. You will be on level 1.
I like old places and old things. I don't care how run down they are. I like wandering the older places in a city. I went to an old town outside Guilin ,Daxu, that had been there for 2000 years. The front of the house on the narrow street were old, but not 2000 years, the rear of the buildings were mostly new big, often 2 story additions.
The streets around me had lots of shops that I liked to see or visit often. The girls were always friendly.
