Q: what firmware and apps do I need for my android phone in China

I bought a LG optimus 3D phone because my Iphone can't be unlocked (yet). I have the LG unlocked (rooted), but I don't really know electronic things. What firmware might I need and apps suggestions , please?

make sure your phone has andriod market place app from there you can get google maps the other essential app is google translate.
