Q: What is the first thing you eat when you get back to your home country after leaving China?
Mexican or just some southern style food (fried chicken, dumplins, meatloaf, biscuts and gravy)
After a year in China, I came back on Christmas Day, when everything was closed. So, ironically, on my first day back my family and I went to a Chinese buffet since that was the only thing open.
I said xie xie to the waiter, who sheepishly replied with your welcome in English.

Everything closed in Chicago on Christmas Day? I have never seen that before. Not in the suburbs, for sure, perhaps the bigger stores in the Loop, but my God, Devon Avenue closed? I don't think so...Andersonville closed? I don't think so either. Who knows maybe things have changed.
tmestep8:
It's pretty common knowledge that life shuts down on Christmas, and the only things open are movie theatres and Chinese restuarants.
First would be a real NY style thin crust pizza! Secondly -..a nice (grilled!) thick cut rib-eye steak..
Grandy's Chicken Fried Steak or Texas size steak with extra gravy and Jack N the Box Cheesecake
subhash.sah:
why the fuck did i get a thumb down?????????? Is it because my name doesnt sound fucking Texan, so i aint from texas, or are Grandy's and Jack N the box not classy enough for you uptight mo-fuckers. Or do you just hate the idea that everything is bigger in texas. Or should i have just said "biryani" just because i have an Indian origin.
DaBen:
Don't take it personal.... we just have a personality or two that thinks it's cool and funny to thumbs down everyone.
HugAPanda:
uh.. notice everyone got a thumbs down. Some alter egos give thumbs down with one hand and get off with the other. Don't take them personally.
I go to White Spot for a BC Chicken Burger (or a wild salmon burger) with a REAL Caesar salad and a Kokanee (or 3).
nevermind:
Ha! I was just gonna come here to post white spot... double double with bacon. I knew Dude and Kchur would know what I'm talking about! Awww yeahhh. Gone to the ones in HK?
thedude:
Go to Triple O's every time I'm in HK.....at least once a day when I am there!
Usually it is real, honest to goodness buffalo wings and a side of curly fries with paprika. Then, for dessert, some hot apple pie with vanilla ice cream. Simple food, but really, really good.
IN-N-OUT cheeseburger. Gonna have one in a couple of weeks.
Arroz con Habichuelas!!!!
GuilinRaf:
Hmmm, thumb down. I guess somebody does not like rice and beans...
