Q: what food to watch out for on visit

I'm coming in 3 weeks from the Great White North Cdn, you all are invited to meet me at airport,,
, but seriously I hate to get sick on visit, Mexico was disaster,,, really ruined a vacation,, I know stay away from food vendors but what should I watch for,?? I saw the Li river tour review, crew washed dishes in river after tour,,good way to catch hepatitis
Breakfast in my hotel is $25 each, hate to think what a meal is, so will eat out, beside I wouldn't be spending time at hotel, rather stand around a street corner like home. Are all western restaurants expensive?

I'm from Australia and I have been to China 3 times staying each time for up to 2 months. I have eaten in everything from good resturants,to street vendors, friends homes, small resturants, food courts and markets. Yes I've even eaten the meals from the boats at Guillin. I have tried most foods except the most exotic things that are not normally eaten by Westeners and find the food great. It's that good I just want to try more things each time. I have only been mildly sick on one occasion, so my advice to you is dont let paranoia of germs stand in the way of enjoying the worlds greatest cuisine. Probably better to drink bottled or filtered water, take some medicine in case you do get ill and certainly get vacinated for hepatitis, but appart from that just go for it and enjoy.
