I ate chickens heart by accident. It was a year or two ago at a barbeque place and the guy told me it was chicken. I dont know if he said heart or not, or whether i missed it. It was ok actually until I found out what it was.
Wow, that sounds horrible. Didn´t you taste a difference? Or did it drown in some sort of sauce?
Chicken heart. It must have given you some special power of some kind.
xunliang:
Of course it tasted different, thats why I went back and asked what was wrong with the chicken. Im still waiting for the super power to kick in
Lamb's penis. I ate it coz I was curious about that.
I think is good to taste weird things here, the best way to do it is being with chinese people who can eat it so that you can order all the weird things and just try a little and if like it then eat more.
llBamBamll:
So, how did it taste? Was it something you finished eating or did it end up being something that you just tasted from your Chinese friends? :) And what more did you try?
TedDBayer:
hey man taste it, yeah man tastes like,, good thing I didn't step in it.
Blood Cake in Hotpot.. ate accidentally... many others more crazy dishes came my way.. but i didnt eat.
llBamBamll:
That just sounds horrible. :P How can you eat that by accident? :D
Thakkudu:
it looks more or less like tofu!!.. i didnt know until one colleague explained
I've had some duck or chicken feet....I don't eat the feet if they still look like feet though. They have to cut the tips off and make it look like something else. I tried it wasn't that bad..
llBamBamll:
I heard that they should taste delicious. But I agree with you that it would be easier to eat if they did not look like the actual thing. :)
I had turtle jelly which didn't taste like anything natural at all. I didn't like that at all. I also had birds nest soup which is made out of spit from a particular type of bird which was okay. It is supposed to be healthy and it is expensive. I don't know if it is good for you bit I could finish it.
llBamBamll:
I have to give the Chinese one thing. They sure know how to creatively make up dishes that are supposed to be healthy and strenghten your body. :P
Turtle jelly, birds nest soup...who else could come up with that. :) Amazing.
I don´t know if I would have the guts to try all that. And if I want to eat it I want to know which part of the animal it is made of, or on second thought not knowing is maybe just better.
Frog, Rat, & Fish eyeballs.... weird enuf 4 me~.
llBamBamll:
Wow, that sounds just .... challenging for the stomach. :) So, which of them were okay and which of those things you mentioned would be something you would never taste again?
I forgot to say in that the birds nest soup is even more expensive if the bird was not well which led to blood in the spit. I have not tried that and I probably wouldn't because of the thought of it. I think it is good to try some different things though.
i ate lamb testis and taste was just ok and one of my drink drink snake soup by accident
Most of these things you mentioned makes me almost puke by only thinking about it. What I could´nt think of hence to my lack of imagination, google helped me - and that sure did´nt help on the feeling sick side.
Brave brave men and women out there. Respect.
I guess you need that when going to China - open up for whatever comes your way.
Cat (not civet) in Zhongshan. The restaurant had a couple in a cage out in front, so I steamed in. I'm looking to complete the Noah's Ark collection of fine dining entirely within the mainland's borders.
crimochina:
hey cat this guy ate your cousin, what are you gonna do about it????
