This is sort of a continuance of another post of mine before. I'm sure you've all read the "How do I know if he likes me?" question. This time it's not about whether a guy likes me, I'm just curious. For instance, I got a giant teddy bear (I can barely wrap my arms around it) from a guy I have only spoken to a few times and hardly know at all. It was a Christmas gift, and is apparently out of friendliness, and also probably because I am a foreigner. What's the deal? Have any of you received gifts just because you are a foreigner?
nope, may be he likes you and wants to get start a nice conversation with you...
Wear the Teddybear. Open it up and get inside. I'm sure that will make your friend happy. ) Happy New Year Junsb ,,,,I'd say he likes you, enough to buy you something..if you like him then give him a gift no matter how small

Unfortunately it is not quite big enough for me to walk around it, but perhaps a small child...Anyways, maybe I will buy him something while I'm in Japan. I've got too much going on thinking about that, I don't have time for love until after Spring festival. lol
TedDBayer:
you keep him hanging or hurt his feelings by not giving now, for me I do not like to rec'v, but could not wo giving.

maybe because you are a lady, you may get a few more gifts than a man, me for example. I have gotten a few, a scarf, a pair of leather gloves, once for my birthday I got a beautiful Chinese shirt and a pair of white pants. But in general, I mostly get dinner invitations, maybe as many as 2 or 3 times per week.
I have not made up my mind yet as to why. During dinner, I am always asked many questions about life in america, or abroad in general. Once, a couple who has a daughter finishing her BS in Chemical Engineering here in China but wants a Master in USA, drilled me for hours on different schools, life on campus, costs, etc. Yes, I do get a free meal, I do enjoy the company and the chat, but still feel a bit "used".
I do wish sometimes the motivation to invite me would be to share a good time together, not to use the opportunity to gain knpowledge from me. Well, can't have everything to be my way........
yes all the time but mostly from students around exam time.
Well as my company was merging two smaller factories to a larger new facility, the IT met one of the sales girls from the other factory as he was checking software before movies. As I've been told, she sent her flowers and that was it until the time of the merger. They've been living the last three months together. And from the other office workers, that little gift of flowers was what showed that he was falling in love with her.
Take that story with a grain of salt, but to get a bear that big.... my moneys on he's interested in more than friends.
As personal gifts of course the dinner or night out. As far as holidays, never anything for Christmas (accept an apple of Christmas eve), candy or fruit for Spring Festivile, Moon cakes, and one year ('07) the office guys got me a tea set and the gf at the time got me a cd of Chinese music.
I once had a friend of mine in China (a girl...just a friend) give me a needle point of a flower that was framed too. This must have took many many hours to make, and it was awkward for me to accept, but a very nice thing for her to do for me. I suspect that she was interested in being more than friends because of the gift.
I would say he has interest in you.
I got a bag of dried fish, wrapped!
TedDBayer:
I buy these dried chicken breast strips, made in China, buy them in big bags, they are dog treats
Yeah god gave me a gift in China...he gave me the ability to survive..and to pick up some chinese enough to get by..
