Q: What has your clubbing experience been like in China?

Granted I only came to China for a few weeks (and am soon to return! woohoo!) but I went clubbing 3 times while I was down there, and I was always quite disappointed.

Maybe I went to the wrong places, but a lot of the time the places I went to were full of older foreigners hitting in local girls, most of which looked bored and were dressed like h**kers, terrible music and crazy expensive drinks (quality didn't match price). I'll probably stop by Beijing and Shanghai when I come back and wanted to know if anyone could recommend some of the best places for a night out drinking and dancing.

Thanks!

I've seen videos of big clubs that looked great. I've only been in a couple of discos and the music was insanely loud. Headache, ears bleeding. I guess Chinese are deaf, which is why they don't answer questions.

I don't understand it. Not many places with good music. More prostitutes than Vegas. I thought I made a new friend, but turns out she was just eyeing my bf. Lots of people drinking till they pass out, throw up and doing it over and over again. Then tables of people buying lots of food  alcohol and not touching the food. Interesting

When I first came to China, a Chinese friend brought me to the latest club.  As others have said, insanely crouded and loud.  Not my type of place at all.  But to give my friend face, we stayed and had a few beers.

When nature called, I excused myself to the bathroom and found that just as insanely crowded.  There was a line 5 deep for the urinal.  I was paranoid that the guy behind me wouldn't be able to wait that long.

Anyway, I finally get to the front of the line and I am doing my business when suddenly some guy started giving me a shoulder rub.  I have to admit, I freaked.  In mid-stream I did a 180 degree turn (spraying wildly as I went) and prepared to deck the pervert giving me the rubdown.  Thankfully, I was sober enough to realize he was wearing a club uniform.

I think I scared the shit out of him, because he didn't even notice that I had accidentaly pissed on him.  I felt so bad for the guy, what a horrible job.  Can you imagine how you life must be like if the best you can do is get hired to give guys shoulder rubs while they are taking a piss?

After both of us apologizing many times for scaring each other half to death, I gave him 100 RMB in way of an apology.  I felt very sorry for the guy.  I am just glad it didn't turn into a bathroom brawl.  I would have had my ass handed to me 15 ways to Sunday.

In Shanghai, I have had awesome experiences in clubs. I admit there are usually only few Chinese at the clubs I frequent most. But there's been good music and if you research you can find the clubs with the best drink specials/happy hours/ladies nights. And I've even enjoyed myself at Chinese clubs, too. I usually end up dancing on the stage area with friends, as there are a lot more people at the Chinese clubs and the stages have fewer people. I don't go to clubs too often because I'm really busy and usually tired but I definitely enjoy myself when I do go out (about 2-3 times a month). Then again I am in my 20's ....

When you get drunk and end up spending the night at the back of a  KFC with a bunch of your friends, sleeping in the couch seats, then you've clubbed in China. Beijing, Tianjin woot woot !!
Otherwise, unless you're a fan of insanely loud music and overcrowded places, club is not the place to go. A good time out is usually when you hit a pool pr foosball joint with your best buddies, chll till 2am and go back home. Cause nothing good ever happens after 2 am. Ha.

Book a table in advance or go early and you'll have a better quality night rather than standing squashed around crowds.

Be prepared to spend money in good places...

It's funny how you can go about your whole day maybe merely even spending 20 yuan, then go to a club that night and end up spending 100's!
