You can use bus shuttle from Shenzhen Train Station to Luohu border crossing for 70 Rmb, when in HK use underground.

If you want a USA tourist visa, you do not need to go to Hong Kong, but either to the USA Embassy in Beijing, or one of the four Consulates in different cities within China. There is one in Guangzhou if you are in Shenzhen. For information on what is needed to get a nonimmigrant visa (tourist) to USA, please visit http://www.ustraveldocs.com/hk/index.html?firstTime=no
