Q: What ID papers do Chinese soldiers hold?
My friend is an officer in the Chinese army and he told me that Chinese army soldiers have different documents from any other person in china.....even their ID card and hukou bin or the household registration thingy that Chinese people use is different.......plus he told me that Chinese soldiers don't have the right to ever travel abroad...........What's that all about?!!!!!

Most countries have ID cards for military personnel including retired personnel so guess the same applies here.
With not being able to travel abroad other than duty it would be the case of defection, and selling or giving away state secrets.
Even the Australian military restricts places where its personnel can go to for holidays.
