Q: What items did you wish you brought from home the first time you arrived in China?

When you arrived in China the first time, what did you wish you had brought with you from home?

other than guns and amo?,,, pictures from home, to show and explain where you live,, don't make them too nice, get some with lots of litter so it looks like China. And you don't want everyone to know how much nicer it is here. Some pictures of things you like to do, the sex video if you got it,pictures of your kids, pets and slaves also.Maybe some from the last Klan meeting also.
Good house pictures are essential if you are baiting for a mate. I down loaded and printed pictures of Bill Gates home for this purpose.

If I could have brought a soft mattress, I would. I wake up every morning with a slight back and neck ache. Also, some DVDs, a water purifier pitcher of some kind, a teleporter....

random little shit to give away as gifts. like pennies or other equally worthless trinkets.

In general though, I wish I had brought less. Everything can be bought here. Usually for less than what you would have paid for it at home (even mattress covers).

Tetly orange pekoe tea,,,,don't care if China has good teas, i bought some in China and they seem pricey,,,, the first thing i did when I got home was have tea at the airport, tea on the way home and about 6 mugs when i got home.. if you are a coffee drinker then coffee, even instant. I could not drink the coffee in china.
I brought presents, things like perfume.which I read was a good present for China,, ,supposed to claim these with receipt when you bring them as luxury goods (50% duty?)I brought 3 (Katy Perrys, B>S> Fantasy, Ed Hardy) and several small sample bottles that you can get for free. None of the women I met knew anything about or wore perfume.
I also brought Canadian souvenirs like flags, playing cards (made in china lol)
I brought chocolate like Lindtorfs , but they melt in that hot temperature as made for here.

Tea bags. As famous as China is for its tea they just can't do good black tea bags. Lipton's sucks.

All the other kinds of tea are awesome though!

A blanket Thank you to you all. I'm not bringing a mattress, but I am bringing a foam mattress pad. I priced them on taobao. They are way cheaper here, even if I pay extra to bring it. I should bring 3 or 4 and sell the extras and pay for my trip!!

A: Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever
A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
