I don't know if it's the pollution or lack of access to affordable healthcare or what, but I see all kinds of deformities every day. Most of it involves fingers. Maybe a section of the finger is too short or maybe the nail has been split in half on one finger. Sometimes it's more noticeable, like an eyeball bulging out of the head like they held their nose while sneezing.
What have you seen? What might be causing all of this? It seems more prevalent than in my home country.

In Canada you do not see these deformities on the street. They are in the pub. Most are more than willing to tell you, that they were the best. (i.e the best heavy duty mechanic or the best tree faller ever, or the best long-haul truck driver) until this happened, and you get the story of why they are missing pieces of their body and what could have been.

there is a distinction between having your arm chopped off in a washing machine accident or being born without it !
my wife does not consider it a deformity but a reason to smile

yup, the only thing more funny than people with deformities are people falling and starting bleeding
I used to live in a city where every beggar was either missing legs, or had serious burn scars all over their bodies. Probably a coincidence because we all know China has no organized crime or crime of any type.
I see other more serious causes for these deformities -- perhaps too much mercury or chromium substances in the drinking water, perhaps too many improper items in fish that are given over to consumption, etc, etc.
This has struck my mind a couple of times too. The higher number of deformities could be due to pollutants, smoking during pregnancy, poor treatment of illness during pregnancy etc.
In the west we are very good prosthetics and surgery that can mask a lot of these issues not visible, but also pre-birth screening means that fewer children with serious deformities are born.
The thing that troubles me is all the deformed children who never make it because the parents do not have the means to give it proper care, nor the desire to do so as the family planning laws only gives them one shot at having a child to provide for them during old age. E.g. statistically there should be a person with downs syndrome here and there. I have yet to see anyone with this in China.
u guys ever seen the kids with heads like at least TWICE normal size !?!? lying on the sidewalk in a semi-catatonic state. w o w
sounds silly, but I tried to count my blessings after that.. I felt like such a turd to complain about my own life after seeing that...
Why ask such a question,i've seen children with ??? hope you sleep better knowing that
